Keyword Search

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

  • catholic spirituality
    finds documents containing 'catholic' or 'spirituality'
  • catholic or spirituality
    same as above
  • catholic and spirituality
    finds documents containing both 'catholic' and 'spirituality'
  • catholic not spirituality
    finds documents containing 'catholic' but not 'spirituality'
  • (catholic not spirituality) and  Merton
    finds documents containing 'Merton', plus 'catholic' but not 'spirituality'
  • spirit*
    finds documents containing words starting with 'spirit'
