Transfer Preview is a two-day mandatory orientation for all new transfer students. During this orientation students will take various placement tests, get their student online and email accounts, get information from financial aid, review the degree audit, meet with an academic advisor and register for classes.

Placement Tests

Placement exams are required prior to registration:

• All new transfer students take an English placement exam, regardless of previous English coursework completed.  The English placement test is essay form and will determine if a student needs additional English coursework to improve his/her skills. If students are placed into a Composition I or II, they are required to take that course their first semester. Placement is done by the English Language department.

• All new transfer students are required to complete the foreign language placement examination unless you are done with the foreign language requirement or you have never before taken a foreign language.  The foreign language placement exam is computer-based with scores and placement being issued as soon as the test is finished. Foreign language testing will take place during orientation.
