Restructured PSY 451 Senior Research: required students to write proposals for their independent research projects, submit the proposals to SHC's new Institutional Review Board for approval, and present their projects through a poster session and oral presentations open to the SHC community
Implemented the use of case studies in PSY 304 Developmental Psychology, PSY 102 General Psychology II, and PSY 351 Descriptive Research Methods
Restructured PSY 304 Developmental Psychology so students took a more active role in learning
Participated in the revision of the social science core curriculum
Helped revise the current curriculum in psychology: wrote the proposal to require PSY 468 History and Systems for the psychology major
Assisted in the development of SHC's Institutional Review Board
Helped write a grant proposal for a National Conferences on Undergraduate Research/Lancy Foundation grant (not funded)

Data analysis and research report for small grant research: "The development of lateralized short-term attention in children, adolescents, and adults with and without ADD"
Completing draft of manuscript: "Are self-rating scales valid instruments for the diagnosis of ADD in adults?" which will be submitted in Summer 2003; a student who graduated in May 2003 is assisting with this draft
Writing manuscript on a pedagogical technique for teaching sensation and perception to intro students; will be submitted in Summer 2003
Conducting pilot study on the effects of methyl mercury consumption on the development of children on the Gulf Coast; 4 students are assisting with this project

Student research supervision: Supervised two students working on independent research projects -- one assisted in completing a project examining the flashbulb memories for the events of September 11, 2001, and presented the research at the Southeastern Psychological Association meeting; the other student (1) assisted in the fall with collecting data that will be used for the purpose of examining the effects of attractiveness on perceived intelligence and (2) completed in the spring an independent research project entitled The Effects of Thin-Ideal Internalization on Spring Hill College Students' Body Image and Implicit Attitudes which will probably be presented next fall

Developed and analyzed a survey administered to psychology majors, created an exit exam given to all senior psychology majors, and analyzed exit exam and ETS exam results
Participated in the Teagle-funded planning and establishment of an undergraduate research program: collected data from peer schools regarding their undergraduate research programs; also involved visiting Birmingham Southern and Samford as well as talking to several other schools about the most important components in establishing an undergraduate research program
