Essay on Evagrius Ponticus: Continuing work on revising paper on Evagrius Ponticus' Gnostikos (originally delivered at the annual conference of the North American Patristic Society); will send it for publication, probably to Theological Studies; includes the first English translation of the text from Greek and Syriac as well as a 20-page commentary
Encyclopedia articles: In response to a request from the editors of the New Westminster Dictionary of Church History, wrote and submitted a series of six brief encyclopedia articles: "Antony," "Serapion of Thmuis," "Evagrius of Pontus," "John Cassian," "Monasticism, Egypt, and Palestine," and "Catechumenate"; have received page proof and articles should appear in 2004
Bibliographic editor/translator for Hubertus Drobner's Lehrbuch der Patrologie (Herder, 1996): Several years ago, Drobner asked me to do the English translation from the German of his book's bibliographic entries. In fall 2000, I completed the basic draft; in summer 2002, I completed an update of publications in the field that had appeared between 2000 and 2002; in fall 2002, the translator of the main text finished his work; and the book is now ready to be published by Hendrickson sometime in 2003
Research on the Dolbeau Sermons (a set of 30 newly discovered sermons of Augustine published by François Dolbeau in 1996 and translated into English by Edmund Hill in 1998). Have researched these sermons and collected material for at least one and possibly two future essays: the first will focus on Augustine’s catechumenate in light of the new Dolbeau sermons and is tentatively entitled "The Voice and the Word: Augustine's Catechumenate in the Light of the Newly Discovered Dolbeau Sermons"; a second may focus on Augustine’s use of the Christus medicus figure in the Dolbeau sermons. Plan to deliver the first essay at the 14th International Conference on Patristic Studies (August 2003) and the second at the North American Patristic Conference (May 2004)
